My Favorite Song in the Whole World

I haven't posted in a few days, so I thought I would do this favorite of mine...

The other day I was browsing my CDs and came across the soundtrack for the movie A Walk To Remember. You know, the one with Shane West and Mandy Moore. People might've thought this movie was lame or whatever, but I loved it. Especially that one part where Landon, (Shane West) helps Jamie (Mandy Moore) fulfill one of the things on her To-Do list. It was the one where she wanted to be in two places at once. I'm sorry, I smile every time I see that particular clip, because it's simply the sweetest thing in the world.

Anyway, for the first time in my life, I went on http://www.youtube.com just to find if anyone had a clip of this song. A lot of people did, but some of them were poor quality. Finally though, I found this one:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cTE5PyGuy8

It's the scene in the movie where Jamie sings the song to Landon. Whew, almost makes me want to cry...almost. Lol.

Well, I've pretty much dubbed this song my all-time favorite song. Of course, I was really surprised to hear that it was a religious song originally sung by Switchfoot. I'm not really into religious music. (No offense to anyone, naturally.) Goes to show what you'll experience when you set your mind to it.

Got Too Many Books In Your House? Don't Throw Them Away! Here's Why...

Thought I would post a little about my fav site. It's called Paperbackswap. I have to say I loved this place to the point where I'm on it hours on end, even if I'm doing nothing but flipping from page to page.

As you can tell from the name, it's a place to swap used books. I was tuned in on this site by another person who reads a lot of books like I do. What I did was sign up (it's free) and posted 9 books. For doing that, the system gave me 3 free credits. And with those credits I was able to browse the other thousands of books posted and order some to be sent straight to my mailbox. For free!

What's great about this site (other than no sign-up fee) is the fact that we all share books that we no longer want, and in the process can order more books that we do want. All a person does is put the postage on the package, stick it in your mailbox and wait for it to travel across the country to a new home. When that person gets the book, they inform the site of the fact and voila! You get another credit to get another book.

This site has been absolutely fantastic for me. I have over 500 books in my room, and before PBS, I had nowhere to put them once I read them. So perfectly good books would just sit in boxes getting dusty. Of course, I do have the problem of getting more books when I order them, so I've decided to try something new...

Media mail, which is mainly used to send...well, media mail, is a straight $2.13. I forget to what weight in ounces it will go up to before it changes to $2.31. Anyway, now I offer people a free book with every request. Pretty cool. I'm not using more money to get rid of the books, because I just mail it all together.

All I can say is thank goodness for this site!! 500 books? Do you know how many books that is? Try imagining five huge-a$$ rubbermaid boxes filled to the brim!

Whew!

A Fun Poll! Overheard and Overused Names

Please go here for a fun poll:

http://snappoll.com/poll/205563.php

Okay, maybe it's not THAT fun, but I thought it sounded cool. It's just a poll with a bunch of names I selected that I hear constantly all around me. Not just with the newborns, but with everyone! Do you agree? Well, go and vote!

My First Post

This is my first post in my new blog. I know, very exciting, but what can I say. Although this isn't my first blog, I'm still new to this blogging stuff. I keep thinking to myself that my life is incredibly boring, so why would anyone want to read it?

I suppose though, I mostly wanted to start writing in a blog to get more motivated about my writing. Writing isn't as easy as it looks. Or seems in your head. You may have scenes and bits of dialogue down, but there's so much more that goes into it. Take for example this scene I'm writing right now. My hero is ticked off about getting drenched with yucky mop water. I know what's the outcome of the confrontation with the bucket-wielders, however, I'm having trouble getting to that point. What they say between them, how to approach my outcome, etc. I don't know why this is so difficult. Perhaps I don't know my hero well enough and should explore his character more?

That scene is from a historical work I'm trying to do. A bit of fantasy combined with 1800s era. I'm not sure how it's working so far.

Today it didn't feel like I did much on my historical fantasy. I suppose it's because I was trying to write something for that eHarlequin July writing challenge. Writing a scene in 500 words might seem easy. Oh, well, actually...it is. I mean, I wrote my 500 words...and then some. The hard part is cutting down the main points. I hate that. It always seems that when I need to write something short, I end up writing more than I need and then have trouble slimming it to the right length. Yet, when I try to write something longer, like my fantasy historical, I feel impatient, like it's taking me too long to get where I want to go.

I'm stupid, what can I say. :P
